The weather, currently.
Ready to just go walk around outside for Thursday? We have significantly cooler weather coming! A cold front will drop our high temperatures into the 70s and bring more chances for thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. This feels like a welcome break from all the heat we've had over the month!
You may also be wondering how we are doing with rainfall amounts since we've had lots of thunderstorms this month. Well, we aren't doing great... normally for the month of July we get approximately 1.7" of rain. So far this month, we've only receive 0.6" of rain. As you know, any drop counts but the numbers aren't encouraging. Hopefully we can make up more soon!
Here is how your Thursday looks:
1) Temperatures in the 70s! Crazy, I know!
2) Chance of pm thunderstorms.
3) Friday we rebound back into the 80s.
What you need to know, currently.
We have a new story up today from Anna Abraham on the efforts of the Chilean people to reclaim the country’s water supply from the extractive industries and other private enterprises.
“Climate change plays a significant role in the matter,” writes Abraham. “But so does the country’s free-market water policy, which inadvertently prioritizes the needs of extractive industries over a community’s right to access water.”
“They stole everything from us, they even took away our dignity,” Zoila Quiroz, a local resident from Petorca, Chile told EFE, “There was a time when we had to choose whether to take a shower or wash our clothes. We had no choice but to fight.”
